Some children do not flourish in a big, systemised school, especially creative and independent thinkers, or those who are quietly coasting in the middle. Thames is small by design. With around 200 pupils across ages 11 to 18 and a 1 to 6 staff-to-pupil ratio, we get to know each child as an individual and help them find their feet again.
Set in an RIBA award-winning building two minutes’ walk from Clapham Junction, Thames is grounded in a genuine Christian ethos where every child is known, valued and stretched, never pressured. A number of our pupils join after Year 7, so we are very used to helping children settle quickly and thrive. If your child could be happier, we would love to talk.

Tell us a little about your child and our Admissions team will be in touch to arrange a visit and talk through mid-year places.
We welcome pupils throughout the year, not just in September. If your child is not thriving where they are, arrange a visit and see how a smaller, kinder school can make a difference. We will talk you through availability in your child’s year group and how a move would work.

Our broad, flexible curriculum is built around each child, so pupils can follow their strengths and passions rather than a rigid path. From a wide choice of GCSEs to a sixth form spanning sciences, languages, humanities and the creative and performing arts, every child is stretched and challenged in a way that suits them. Pupils achieve highly, with 52% of A Level grades at A*-A and around a third of leavers heading to Russell Group universities.
Wellbeing and character come first at Thames, because children do their best when they are happy and confident. Small classes and a genuine Christian ethos mean every child is known and cared for as an individual. Our support for creative and neurodiverse learners is a particular strength: we are on the CReSTeD register as a dyslexia-friendly school and have been described as a blueprint for including neurodiverse pupils in a mainstream setting.
Creativity is at the heart of Thames. Exceptional teaching in Fine Art, 3D Design and Textiles sits alongside thriving drama and music and a full programme of sport, clubs and trips, giving every child room to rediscover what they love.
